It plans to start closed-area testing in Istanbul, subject to receiving the required test permits.

Marti app users will be able to experience the technology after its launch.

Founded in 2018, Marti operates ride-hailing services in 40 Turkish cities.

The company recently announced that it had added ride-hailing services in ten further cities across Türkiye, taking its footprint to 40 cities.

The expansion followed Marti’s growth beyond Istanbul, including the launch of services in ten new cities in August 2026.

Marti founder and CEO Oguz Alper Oktem said: “Our goal is to work with multiple partners and to select the autonomous driving technology partners best suited to Türkiye. As Türkiye’s leading urban mobility platform, Marti has consistently pioneered the introduction of new tech-enabled transportation services across the country.”

CalmCar was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Suzhou.

The company provides software-focused L2–L2+ and Level 4 autonomous driving solutions.

Its Level 4 technology supports robobus services operating regularly in Chinese cities, including Chongqing and Chengdu.

The company also offers intelligent cockpit solutions incorporating driver monitoring systems.

CalmCar co-founder Chen Wei said: “We are pleased to work with Marti to explore the application of our autonomous driving technology in Türkiye. Our initial focus is on supporting closed-area testing, subject to obtaining the required permits, and evaluating the technology under local operating conditions.”

In July, Marti and Tensor, a personal autonomous vehicle company, entered into a multi-year agreement to deploy Tensor’s AVs on Marti’s ride-hailing platform in Turkish cities.
