The companies intend to develop integrated offerings for transportation agencies and infrastructure operators covering traffic management, road safety, and infrastructure modernisation.
One area of focus will be the use of intersection intelligence to improve traffic flows.
MicroVision chief commercial officer James Byun said: “By combining our advanced LiDAR portfolio, both short- and long-range, with Blue-Band’s ITS expertise, we are expanding our market reach now and strengthening our ability to convert growing demand into revenue-generating opportunities, all while contributing positively to our bottom line.”
The proposed systems will analyse the movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists to support traffic signal operations and wider traffic management activities.
The companies also plan to address incident and hazard detection.
The proposed capabilities include identifying roadway obstructions, unusual vehicle movements, and conditions that could pose a potential hazard.
The planned sensing systems are intended to work with infrastructure already in place.
The companies said this approach could support phased upgrades across transportation networks while helping to manage costs.
Blue-Band founder and CEO Kevin Yorke added: “Our alliance with MicroVision combines our intelligent transportation expertise with their comprehensive and cost-effective portfolio of short- and long-range LiDAR sensors and advanced perception capabilities.
“MicroVision is the right partner to help us deliver scalable, high-performance solutions that provide customers with greater visibility, actionable intelligence, and better real-time decision-making.”
MicroVision develops LiDAR-based perception systems for industrial, security and defence, and automotive applications.
Blue-Band develops infrastructure technology through capabilities that include technology integration, visualisation, analytics, artificial intelligence, equipment monitoring, and automated response.
