Honda confirmed that significant investment is being made in Acura to develop new products and technologies built around the needs of customers. The first model, an adventure-ready Acura SUV, will be launched in early 2028. The model aims to fulfil customers’ need for outdoor adventures along with modern and premium styling, and the comfort and technology customers expect from an Acura.

This will be followed by a new eight-passenger SUV, its largest ever, designed to capture growing demand for more family-friendly vehicles in the premium market. The new SUV, positioned above the seven-passenger MDX, is currently in development.

Acura confirmed its previous announcement that an all-new, fourth-generation RDX Hybrid, will be launched in 2028. It will be the first Acura model to feature the company’s award-winning two-motor hybrid technology.

The company confirmed that it is currently developing a new V6 hybrid powertrain, specifically designed for Acura D-Segment models with the aim of delivering sporty performance and improved towing capabilities, as well as “environmental efficiencies.”

The company expects that the three new SUVs, along with the existing ADX, MDX and Integra, will help the brand meet customer needs across a range of life stages, a key element of the brand’s new business direction.

Gary Robinson, Vice President of Auto Strategy at American Honda, said in a statement: “Acura is entering the most popular segments in the market while maintaining a leading position in gateway segments with Integra and ADX, to solidify a strong and sustainable future.”
