It follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in February 2026.
That MoU explored possible cooperation on manufacturing, engineering and supply chain activities in India and overseas.
According to the statement, the agreement is intended to support vehicle development and manufacturing in India for export markets.
Under the terms of the agreement, TMPV will provide Stellantis with access to its proprietary product technology and vehicle architecture. Stellantis will then leverage its domestic engineering and development base to adapt the models to local regulatory and customer requirements worldwide.
These will be adapted to local customer, regulatory and operating requirements.
TMPV managing director and CEO Shailesh Chandra said: “This agreement marks an important next step, extending our relationship into advanced vehicle technology and architecture, reflecting the strength and competitiveness of TMPV’s capabilities in these areas.
“Together, we have an exciting opportunity to combine our respective strengths to create compelling vehicles engineered and made in India for customers in India and around the world.”
The vehicles will be built in India by Fiat India Automobiles Private Limited (FIAPL), a 50:50 joint venture (JV) between TMPV and Stellantis.
FIAPL runs an integrated vehicle and powertrain facility in Pune, Maharashtra.
The JV makes Stellantis models including the Jeep Compass, Meridian, Grand Cherokee CKD and Wrangler CKD, as well as Tata Motors’ Nexon, Altroz and Curvv.
The site also produces engines, transmissions and traction motors, and exports vehicles to markets including Japan and South Africa.
Stellantis Asia-Pacific Region chief operating officer Tianshu Xin added: “By combining Tata Motors’ strong capabilities in India with Stellantis’ global product development and market reach, this Agreement will help us develop competitive vehicles in India and expand our export potential across international markets.”
