The new high-end production car is the first in the Jaguar brand’s controversial relaunch further upmarket as all-electric and more exclusive luxury.
A three-motor powertrain with torque vectoring gives the car up to 1,030PS (1,016 hp) and 1,365Nm of torque.
The sprint from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) takes 3.2 seconds, while going from 62mph to 112mph (100km/h to 180km/h) takes four seconds.
Jaguar has billed it as its “most aerodynamic and powerful” road car.
It is also the first production Jaguar developed on Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), the company’s dedicated EV platform.
The car has a usable battery capacity of 118kWh and an 850V electrical architecture.
Jaguar anticipates up to 400 miles (643.7km) of US Environmental Protection Agency range and up to 450 miles by Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure measure.
Its 350kW rapid DC charging can restore up to 200 miles of range in as little as 13 minutes, the company said.
Design features include a low roofline, a long bonnet and 23in wheels.
The cabin houses a 24in single-glass OLED display for the driver, along with a seven-inch central touchscreen.
Jaguar said the design, engineering and manufacture of the car all take place in the UK.
The model is an evolution on the Type 00 concept, which debuted in December 2024.
Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover said: “From its dramatic design to its captivating drive, Type 01 distils the essence of Jaguar into a luxury grand tourer for a new era. Type 01 is the foundation of this British brand, one that makes no compromise between design and engineering in our quest to create objects of desire, just as it was in the days of the E‑type and XJS.”
In June, Jaguar’s parent, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), owned by India’s Tata Motors, positioned North America at the heart of its growth strategy, treating the region, especially the US, as a priority market.
JLR said the US would join the UK, Europe and China as a “key” market, with plans for market-specific offerings and measures to bolster supply chain resilience.
