Sweden’s Volvo Cars, owned by Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, has launched its locally-assembled EX30 Cross Country battery-powered compact SUV in Malaysia, as the automaker continues to strengthen its position in the country’s rapidly expanding zero-emissions vehicle market.
Volvo’s local subsidiary, Volvo Car Malaysia, has priced the EX30 at MYR 218,888 (US$ 53,400), excluding insurance. It is available at authorised Volvo dealers nationwide, alongside smaller battery-powered SUVs including the Volvo EC40, EX40, XC40 and EX90, as well as the ES90 sedan. The EX30 Ultra variant is also available, priced at MYR 198,888.

The latest EX30, assembled by Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia at its plant in Selangor, is based on the EX30 platform and is powered a 69 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery that can charged from 10% to 80% in 27 minutes using a 175 kW DC rapid charger.
The EX30 is available with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain, producing 428 hp and 543 Nm of torque, and has a driving range of up to 437 km. It comes with a 12.3-inch central display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
