Workers at two UK-based Pirelli Tyres sites are set to strike over wage rates, their trade union said.
The Transport and General Workers’ Union (T&G) said the workers want an improvement on the 2.2% pay rise already offered by the Italian tyre group.
Around 900 workers at the facilities, in Carlisle and Burton-on-Trent, will strike for one day on Friday 25 August and start a continuous overtime ban from then.
Peter Booth, T&G national organiser for manufacturing, said: “Members are determined to see this action through to its logical conclusion, which is an improvement on the current pay offer.”
