Infineon Technologies has formed a partnership with Taiwan-based semiconductor company MediaTek for the development of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven in-cabin solution for future vehicles.
As part of the collaboration, MediaTek has qualified Infineon’s 512Mb quad SPI (QSPI) NOR Flash, an automotive-grade NOR Flash memory product, for deployment in its Dimensity Auto Cockpit platform C-X1.

QSPI is a high-speed data sharing method that uses four bidirectional lines to send or receive information four times faster than standard SPI, though only in one direction at a time.
That qualification means the Infineon component is an approved memory choice for automotive OEMs, tier-1 suppliers and design partners working on next-generation smart cockpit systems.
The 512Mb QSPI NOR Flash memory is used to store the firmware and boot code needed to support AI-driven features at the system-on-chip (SoC) level.
These include voice assistants, driver monitoring, travel vlog generation, environmental perception and personalised audio-visual recommendations.
MediaTek vice president and auto business general manager Mike Chang said: “Infineon’s automotive-grade NOR Flash delivers the performance, reliability, and functional safety features required for our premium and high-end Dimensity Auto Cockpit platform C-X1.
“Building on our long-standing collaboration, we leverage Infineon’s industry leadership to deliver a reliable backbone for the evolving software-defined ecosystem.”
The device also supports “Safe and Secure Boot”, with redundancy designed to improve safety.
According to the statement, the memory solution is based on Infineon’s MirrorBit technology and “offers a robust interface, broad compatibility with leading Automotive SoCs, AEC-Q100 qualification, and operating temperature support up to +125 °C”.
Infineon Technologies memory solutions senior vice president Rainer Hoehler added: “Cutting-edge digital cockpits and over-the-air update capabilities are driving the demand for higher density NOR flash. With the qualification by MediaTek, customers can now easily integrate Infineon’s 512Mb NOR Flash as a future‑ready memory solution for smart cockpits.”
Last month Infineon Technologies completed its acquisition of the non-optical analog/mixed-signal sensor portfolio from ams Osram Group for €570m ($653.09m) on a debt-free, cash-free basis.
In a separate development last December, MediaTek partnered with Japanese automotive components manufacturer Denso to co-develop a custom automotive SoC.
