Chinese EV maker BYD has posted its third straight month of year-on-year global sales growth, with July deliveries climbing 21.7% to 419,211 units.
BYD confirmed it delivered 419,211 new energy vehicles (NEVs) during July 2026, while output for the month came to 420,249 units.

Passenger vehicles accounted for 411,072 of total deliveries, split between 233,105 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and 177,967 plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).
Commercial vehicle deliveries stood at 8,139 units, comprising 620 buses and 7,519 other commercial models.
Despite the monthly gain, BYD’s cumulative performance for the year remains behind 2025’s pace.
In the first seven months of 2026, the company sold 2.22 million NEVs, compared with 2.49 million units in the corresponding period last year.
Within that year-to-date total, passenger vehicles made up 2.18 million units – 1.10 million BEVs and 1.08 million PHEVs – while commercial vehicles reached 39,275 units, including 3,169 buses and 36,106 other commercial models.
BYD said 180,538 of its July NEVs were shipped overseas.
On the production side, July output rose sharply from 317,892 units in the same month last year to 420,249 units.
Year-to-date production remained below the 2025 level, with total NEV output for January to July at 2.23 million units compared with 2.45 million units in the corresponding period last year.
Passenger vehicle output for July came to 411,791 units, made up of 233,785 BEVs and 178,006 PHEVs.
Year-to-date passenger vehicle production totalled 2.19 million units, compared with 2.41 million units in the corresponding period last year.
By powertrain, BEV production for the first seven months totalled 1.10 million units, down from 1.18 million units, while PHEV output declined 11.25% to 1,091,563 units.
Commercial vehicle manufacturing bucked the wider downward trend, rising to 8,458 units in July from 2,623 units the previous year.
Separately, BYD last month brought Racco to market – its first vehicle engineered to Japan’s kei car regulations.
The base model is priced under Y2m ($12,213) once applicable taxes and government incentives are factored in and will be distributed through the brand’s authorised dealer network in Japan.
