Geely-owned Zeekr has introduced the 9X in Europe, the brand’s first model in the luxury SUV category and its first super hybrid vehicle for the region.

The 9X was unveiled in Amsterdam yesterday (29 July). It comes as the 9X Ultra 6-seater, available in Crystal White, Lava Grey and Onyx Black, with an optional black styling pack.

The SUV was designed in Gothenburg, Sweden, and brings together European design cues, a high-voltage hybrid drivetrain and a cabin built around technology.

According to Zeekr, the 9X runs on a 900V dual-motor setup, with a 2-litre turbocharged engine functioning as a generator to boost range.

The company cited a maximum output of 897hp, a 0-100km/h time of 4.1 seconds, a top speed of 240km/h and a total range of up to 737km.

Zeekr also stated the vehicle can go from 10% to 80% charge in 9.5 minutes when using DC fast charging.

Onboard technology includes a 47-inch head-up display, a 16-inch 3.5K OLED central display, LiDAR-based ADAS, highway navigation assistance and remote parking assistance.

Zeekr Europe CEO Lothar Schupet said: “The new Zeekr 9X is our response to the next-generation of luxury consumers. More than ever, luxury customers want more from their car, and the Zeekr 9X is a direct answer to this demand, designed in Europe for European roads.”

“The Zeekr 9X is not luxury borrowed from another era. Instead, this is a new era of luxury, beyond convention.”

This launch is part of Zeekr’s broader move into higher-end segments.

In April, the company brought out the Zeekr 8X, pitched as a flagship performance model to compete with established German manufacturers BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi.

With the 9X, Zeekr is carrying that approach further into Europe, where the company said this represents its fifth model launch across three years.

Zeekr maintains research and design facilities in Gothenburg, Ningbo, Hangzhou and Shanghai.

The company said it has delivered more than 800,000 vehicles since beginning deliveries in October 2021, and Zeekr Europe now operates across 16 regional markets.

In February, Zeekr entered the Italian market through a distribution agreement with Jameel Motors Italia.
