Delphi has named Thomas Timko, 38, as chief accounting officer (CAO).

Prior to joining the components maker, Timko was an assistant controller for the Interpublic group of companies (IPG), a group of advertising agencies and marketing service companies, based in New York.


Timko will report to Bob Dellinger, Delphi chief financial officer.


“Tom’s energy, along with his rich experience and extensive knowledge in financial accounting, will be integral to Delphi as we continue our reorganisation process, while addressing our internal control deficiencies and implementing a shared services environment,” said Dellinger.


“As CAO, Tom will work closely with the corporate and divisional finance teams, internal audit, tax and treasury staffs to ensure adherence to the highest level of accounting and ethical standards.”

Timko joined Delphi in June 2006 as controller for the company and has been working with John Sheehan, Delphi’s previous chief accounting officer on the transition.


Sheehan remains vice president and chief restructuring officer for Delphi.


Prior to joining IPG in December 2004, Timko was assistant controller for industrial manufacturer Dover Corp. in New York. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1991 in New Jersey and worked in a number of senior accounting roles before joining Dover in January 2003.
