BMW Group has signed a long-term agreement with Qualcomm Technologies for the main compute silicon for its future digital cockpit, advanced driver assistance and automated driving systems, extending across vehicle programs planned for the next decade.

The agreement makes Qualcomm a central hardware partner for BMW’s upcoming software-defined vehicles, with the chipmaker providing components from its Snapdragon Digital Chassis portfolio.

These include high-performance Snapdragon Elite automotive system-on-chips and dedicated AI accelerators that will support the carmaker’s next wave of AI-enabled in-car functions.

The technology vendor said the deal is the result of several years of engineering collaboration, with BMW turning to Qualcomm for the processing performance and artificial intelligence capability needed for more complex cockpit and driving applications.

The new supply arrangement is designed to form the computing foundation for future BMW models, Qualcomm said.

That relationship has already reached the market.

In November 2025, BMW launched Snapdragon Ride Pilot in the iX3, the first model in its Neue Klasse line-up.

Co-developed with Qualcomm, the platform powers BMW’s “Symbiotic Drive” system, which is designed to combine automated driving functions with a driving experience that keeps the driver actively involved.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis brings together automotive-grade silicon and software across cockpit, connectivity and driver-assistance functions on a common architecture, allowing automakers to build vehicles around a more unified compute platform.

The BMW deal also reflects a wider push across the automotive sector to secure long-term semiconductor partnerships.

Micron Technology recently signed strategic customer agreements with seven automotive suppliers and ecosystem partners, including Qualcomm, while General Motors and Ford each signed separate long-term deals with Micron this month to lock in memory and storage supply for future vehicle production.
