Japanese tyre manufacturer Bridgestone Corporation announced that it plans to close its tyre manufacturing plant in Taiwan, a decision “based on adjustments to its global operational strategy and long-term market development considerations.”
The plant, managed by the company’s local subsidiary Bridgestone Taiwan Company Ltd, was built in 1982 and is located in Hukou Township, Hsinchu County. The company said it will provide support for the more than 500 employees affected by the closure “in accordance with local regulations, including career transition services and related support measures for affected employees.”

Bridgestone said it will continue to deepen its presence in the Taiwan market, by transitioning into a sales and service-focused business model “focused on strengthening its sales and service capabilities, particularly through the enhancement of channel development and sales systems, while deepening collaboration with local distribution partners.”
Bridgestone said it will leverage its global manufacturing network more effectively to enhance its product competitiveness and broaden its product portfolio to meet the diverse demands of the Taiwanese market, while enhancing overall service capabilities.
