The ICE variant is powered by a 1.5-litre 2NR-VE petrol engine with continuously variable transmission (CVT), producing 106 PS and 138 Nm of torque. The hybrid model combines the 2NR-VEX engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack, producing a combined maximum power output of 111 PS. Toyota’s Hybrid Electric System allows the vehicle to operate in electric mode during low-speed driving conditions, helping to reduce fuel consumption and emissions during urban driving.
Datuk Ravindran K, president of UMW Toyota Motor, said in a statement: “The B-SUV segment continues to gain momentum as more Malaysians look for vehicles that can support their daily needs with greater flexibility and confidence. With the Yaris Cross, we are expanding our hybrid offering with a solution that is practical and reliable, backed by the trust and dependability that Toyota delivers. Our approach has always been to introduce technologies that are relevant to how Malaysians drive today, and hybrid technology continues to offer a clear and accessible pathway towards electrification.”
