Automotive tax reforms announced by the Japanese government have been welcomed
by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), though it contends that
the level of taxes and charges levied on Japanese auto buyers is still too high,

JAMA chairman Hiroshi Okuda says that the automobile industry applauds the
reductions in auto-tax – within the framework of the auto-environmental tax
system – as it is a taxation measure designed to promote the use of fuel-efficient
and low-emission vehicles.
