Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company reported that its global production increased by 2.1% year-on-year to 274,346 vehicles in January 2026, from 268,628 units a year earlier. Production in Japan continued to recover from the semiconductor shortages in the fourth quarter of last year, with output rising by 14% to 51,081 units, while overseas output was slightly lower at 223,265 units.

Output in North America continued to rebound last month, rising by almost 16% to 139,348 units, driven by a 34% surge in US output to 86,367 units. This was offset by a 23% decline in output in Asia to 73,026 units – including a 27% drop in China to 38,125 units.

Overall exports from Japan fell by 47% to 5,499 units in January, with shipments to the US and Asia rising sharply, while exports to Europe plunged by 65% to 1,788 units and shipments to other markets were down by 29% to 2,058 units.
