Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched its first electric car, the electric SUV VITARA. The car also goes on sale with a price of 1.1m rupees (10.99 lakh) and a battery rental plan that works out at 3.99 rupees (around three US cents) per km travelled.

- Warranty. The e VITARA is available with 61kWh and 49kWh battery pack options, backed by up to an 8-year warranty. Standard warranty on the vehicle is 3 years with an option to extend up to 8 years.
BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) is a dual-loan finance product which eliminates the upfront battery cost and makes ownership easy and affordable. The plan starts at 10.99 lakh with battery rental at 3.99 rupees per km. BaaS is available for personal use only and rental 3.99/km cost assuming vehicle running of 60km per day (and the 49kWh model).
