“Since its launch in 2022 the MG4 EV has been one of the UK’s most popular and admired electric cars with nearly 50,000 sales and 50 major awards and recommendations in the UK; it has proven to be a great-to-drive and distinctively styled hatchback that also helped make EV ownership possible for the many rather than the few,” said David Allison, MG UK’s Director of Product and Planning.
“Now the MG4 EV is driving ahead again. The all-new MG4 EV Urban reconfirms our brand’s ability to make EV ownership ever-more accessible, offering a family sized electric available from just £23,495.”
“Meanwhile, the 2026 MG4 EV offers a major technology and quality upgrade to the interior and a sharp focus on excellent all-electric driving range. And in the case of the dual motor XPOWER, some scintillating 320 kW MG performance.”
MG says the MG4 Urban EV delivers ‘truly affordable electric driving’. The Comfort Standard Range starts at GBP23,495 whilst the Comfort Long Range is priced at GBP25,495. The MG4 EV Urban range is completed with the ‘generously equipped’ Premium Long Range, available from GBP27,995.
With the 2026 MG4 EV, the brand says it is firmly focussing on key attributes UK customers admired about the first car, notably value for money and driving quality. The range starts with the Premium Long Range which is available from GBP29,995 – a GBP2,750 reduction from the outgoing model. The Premium Extended Range, priced from GBP32,995 delivers an improved 338 miles of range from a single charge (WLTP combined) making it the lowest priced car with the longest range in the UK today, MG claims.
Completing the picture is the MG4 EV XPOWER which at GBP33,995 is, MG claims, still pound for pound the fastest accelerating car you can buy in the UK. Guy Pignouakis, Commercial Director at MG UK said: “The first MG4 EV put MG back on the motoring map, proving to be a great all-rounder customers have enjoyed. We’ve retained and enhanced all the key driving characteristics and introduced a comprehensive range of new technologies for an even more impressive experience. MG4 EV Urban grows our offering with a great value EV hatchback that maintains MG’s reputation for being a manufacturer that always offers customers more.”
The MG4 EV4 Urban Comfort Standard Range, Comfort Long Range and Premium Long Range utilise MG’s new and advanced front wheel drive E3 Platform.
New battery choices have been selected for the MG4 EV Urban including a 43kWh Standard Range (Comfort only) and a 54kWh Long Range battery (Comfort and Premium). The Long Range battery combined with a highly-efficient thermal management system and lightweight body structure, delivers up to 258 miles of electric driving range, the company claims, meaning the MG4 EV Urban can comfortably travel well beyond the city streets.
Using rapid public charging the 43kWh battery can achieve a 10-80 per cent charge in just 28 minutes and the larger 54kWh battery in 30 minutes. The MG4 EV Urban also features an advanced heat pump as standard which greatly improves its efficiency in colder weather conditions, it is claimed.
MG says the MG4 EV Urban has already achieved Euro NCAP’s highest 5-Star rating. The advanced battery pack features ultra safe cells and has been ‘exhaustively tested and exceeds international standards’. Active warning and cooling systems and thermal isolation technology are all incorporated, MG says.
MG4 EV Urban also offers a total of seven airbags and 90% of the body is made from high-strength or ultra-high strength steel.
Both the MG4 Urban EV and MG4 EV are supported by a 7-year/80,000 miles warranty, an extensive UK dealer network as well as MG Assistance.
