Announcing the order, Toyota Australia chairman John Conomos said that demand for the redesigned Prius had far exceeded the company’s expectations.
“We launched the original Prius in 2001 and sold 490 units in two years but, within the first three months since the launch of the new generation model in October 2003, we have already received 400 orders. The response has been quite extraordinary.”
