Nissan Motor Company announced that its main Chinese joint venture, Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Company Ltd, is preparing to launch sales of its all-new Frontier Pro and Frontier Pro PHEV pickup trucks in China.
These will be Nissan’s first pickup trucks to be designed, developed, and manufactured in China for global markets. The Frontier Pro PHEV will also be Nissan’s first pickup truck to be powered by a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivetrain system.

The Japanese automaker recently unveiled the model under the Navara badge in Australia, where it is scheduled to go on sale by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
Steven Ma, chairman of Nissan’s China Management Committee, said in a statement: “The Frontier Pro is a model born in China and developed for the global market, representing a significant milestone in Nissan’s global strategy. We will begin exports in the first half of next year, delivering the excitement of Chinese technology and trend creation to the world. Nissan will continue to strongly support the development of Zhengzhou Nissan, deepen its China strategy, drive the market with local innovation, and establish a new trend in the LCV market with Nissan’s foundation and China’s speed.”
The Frontier Pro PHEV model is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a high-output electric motor delivering over 300 kW of power and up to 800 Nm of torque. The EV mode “aims” to have a maximum range of 135 km. The Frontier Pro is powered by the third-generation 2.3L M9T diesel engine, paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering 500 Nm of torque.
Prices in China for the Frontier Pro will range between CNY170,000 and CNY 200,000 (US$ 24,000 and US$28,300), while the PHEV models will be priced between CNY190,000 and CNY 250,000 (US$ 26,700 and US$35,360).
