Automotive revenue increased 47% to $1.14bn, supported by higher deliveries and increased average selling prices.

Rivian founder and CEO RJ Scaringe said: “In Q3, we continued to make significant progress across our strategic priorities which includes R2 and our technology roadmap. R2 delivers on the adventurous spirit customers expect from Rivian. It’s also a great daily driver that will fit so many different use cases for our customers.

“Over the long term, we believe the automotive industry will be fully electric, autonomous and software-defined. We continue to believe that Rivian’s vertically integrated technologies and direct-to-customer ownership experience position our company to build a category-defining brand with a strong product portfolio for the U.S. and European markets.”

The company produced 10,720 vehicles at its Normal, Illinois plant and delivered 13,201 vehicles to customers in the quarter, which it said is expected to be the highest delivery quarter of the year.

Rivian said preparations for the launch of the R2 in the first half of 2026 remain on schedule.

The company has completed construction of a 1.1 million square foot R2 body shop and general assembly facility, and a 1.2 million square foot supplier park and logistics centre in Normal, Illinois.

Equipment bring-up has begun across shops, with all lines of the R2 body shop installed and powered for robot commissioning. Manufacturing validation builds are expected to start by year end.

For longer-term expansion of its mid-size platform, Rivian held a groundbreaking ceremony in September for a second US manufacturing site near Social Circle, Georgia.

The location is expected to add 7,500 manufacturing jobs and provide an additional 400,000 units of annual capacity once both construction phases are completed.
