
Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corporation reported an 11% decline in global production to 59,372 vehicles in August 2025, down from 66,637 units in the same month last year. Production in Japan fell by almost 15% to 25,628 units, while overseas output declined by 8% to 33,744 units.
Sales in Japan declined by 11% to 8,096 units in August, reflecting a sharp drop in minicar sales, while exports fell by 14% to 16,075 units, with shipments to North America down slightly to 9,063 units after plunging by 75% year-on-year in July.

In the first eight months of 2025, Mitsubishi produced 576,359 vehicles globally, down by over 7% compared with 621,062 units in the same period last year. Domestic output declined by 3% to 305,834 units, while overseas production fell by almost 12% to 270,525 units. Sales in Japan rose by 4.5% to 79,954 units in this period, while exports fell by 6.5% to 142,300 units.
