The AxTrax 2 electric axle, designed for light- and medium-duty bus applications, delivers 210kW of continuous power and a peak output torque of 26,000Nm.

Key features include an integrated 800-volt silicon carbide (SiC) inverter, a hairpin electric motor, and a 3-speed transmission with an electronic actuator for enhanced efficiency.

The axle also supports full neutral capability for coasting and towing, and includes a high-performance electronic control unit (ECU).

ZF board of management member, head of the Commercial Vehicle Solutions division and responsible for the India Region Dr Peter Laier said: “This nomination demonstrates how leading manufacturers across the globe are increasingly attracted to our comprehensive technology portfolio.

Laier added: “We are delighted to support our customers in this transition. By leveraging the synergy effects created by our cross-divisional expertise in the field of electric drives, we are able to deliver the innovative and reliable e-mobility solutions that also help reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO).”

Designed to replace traditional engine, transmission, and axle systems, the AxTrax 2 is part of ZF’s broader modular e-mobility platform.

It integrates ZF-developed components into a compact and lightweight solution, and can be combined with the company’s air disc brake and brake actuation systems.

ZF said the latest deal further strengthens its presence in India’s expanding commercial vehicle electrification market.

In February 2025, ZF Group started series production of its latest-generation steer-by-wire system for Chinese battery electric vehicle (BEV) manufacturer Nio Inc’s ET9 model.
