Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Corporation announced it plans to launch its next-generation ProPILOT autonomous driving system in the fiscal year starting in April 2027 (FY2027).
The company confirmed that the new ProPILOT system will include its newly developed Ground Truth Perception driver-assistance technology, which it says dramatically improves collision-avoidance performance, and will feature next-generation LiDAR and Wayve AI Driver software.

Nissan said its next-generation ProPILOT system aims to set a new standard for autonomous driving with its advanced collision avoidance capabilities. The Wayve AI Driver software, built on Wayve’s embodied AI foundation model, is designed to handle highly complex real-world driving conditions in a human-like manner. The system’s ability to efficiently and rapidly learn from vast amounts of data ensures that it will continuously improve.
Nissan pointed out that Wayve is a global AI company that is pioneering embodied AI for the automotive sector, adding that its embodied AI foundation model is trained on vast amounts of real-world experience using custom GenAI technology to enable point-to-point driving across urban and highway environments with greater safety and reliability. The foundation model is said to “excel at adapting to new scenarios and platforms to accelerate wide deployment of its autonomous driving technology.”
