BYD Auto entered the Swiss auto market earlier this month, as China’s leading new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer continues to expand into global markets.
The company held a launch event for the brand at the beginning of April, including the launch of three models: the battery-powered Seal and Sealion 07 models and the hybrid-electric Song Plus.
Its local dealer Harmony Auto opened its first BYD store in the country, in the capital city Zurich. BYD also has a sales agreement with Automotive Suisse, which plans to open two outlets in the country this month – in Lugano and Bellinzona. The automaker said it plans to have 15 sales outlets in operation in the country by the end of the year.
Stella Li, executive vice president of BYD, said in a statement: “At BYD, our mission is to make our sustainable technologies as accessible to as many consumers as possible, so every new market in Europe is extremely important to us.”
