Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD has made an undisclosed investment in Zhuoyu Technology, the automotive division of DJI, to enhance its assisted driving technologies, reported technode.
DJI, best known for its drones, has increasingly focused on automotive applications, and this partnership signals BYD’s determination to catch up with rivals like Tesla and Huawei in the field of advanced driving assistance systems.

As part of the investment, BYD acquired a 3.95% stake in Zhuoyu Technology, a Shenzhen-based automotive tech firm controlled by DJI, with the total registered capital of the company reaching approximately 73.1m yuan ($10.1m).
This move is part of BYD’s strategy to introduce assisted driving features in its vehicles by 2025, particularly for models priced at 200,000 yuan or below.
The investment also supports BYD’s plans to integrate advanced features into its upcoming models, including a camera-enhanced rear-view mirror system designed to improve functions like lane changing.
This partnership comes as BYD continues its expansion. The company saw a 40% increase in global sales in 2024, reaching 3.76 million units, including a 74% surge in overseas sales.
In December, Zhuoyu Technology updated its business registration, adding three new shareholders, including Shenzhen BYD Semiconductor Materials which holds 3.95%, 1.89%, and 1.18% of the shares, respectively, reported pandaily.
The registered capital has increased to about 73.12m yuan.
Also, this month, BYD has instructed its suppliers to cut prices by 10% in 2025 compared to 2024 levels. This move signals an intensifying price war.
