This makes India Volvo’s fourth global exports centre after Sweden, Belgium and Botswana.

The trucks were shipped to Volvo’s Korean operation which sells about 1,000 trucks a year for a 10% market share. The trucks are of the haulage-tipper type used mostly in construction and earthmoving and have the 420-hp D12 engine, 12-speed I-shift gearboxes, tubeless tyres, air suspension seats and maintenance-free suspension.

Volvo India also exports trucks and buses to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and ships components to other countries.

It currently works a single shift with capacity for 1,000 trucks a year. Output could be doubled by employing a second shift.
