Bentley has released first details of its new ‘small’ saloon. The four- or five-seat Continental Flying Spur was designed alongside the two-door Continental GT and arrives about a year after the coupe went on sale.

The new car has a six-litre, twin-turbocharged, V12 delivering 552bhp through an all-wheel-drive transmission system with six-speed automatic gearbox. Top speed is claimed to be “in excess of 190mph” and 0-62mph (100km/h) acceleration takes around five seconds.
The traditional leather and wood interior accounts for over 11 leather hides.
Buyers can order either a five-seat (rear bench) or four-seat (twin electrically-adjustable seats separated by a large veneer-inlaid console) cabin layout.
Pricing will be about the same as the Continental GT coupe and the new saloon goes on sale in the spring.
The Continental Flying Spur will be produced in far greater volume than the larger Bentley Arnage line.
Bentley is keeping the numbers under wraps but chairman Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen put it like this: “If you work in a major capital city you might see a Continental Flying Spur a few times a month, but you will only come across an Arnage a few times a year.”
