General Motors has said it will relocate its global headquarters to Hudson’s Detroit in 2025.

It will become the anchor tenant at Bedrock’s development, on the historic site of the former JL Hudson department store.

The move is GM’s fourth headquarters relocation in Detroit since 1911 which, it said, reaffirmed its long standing commitment to the city.

GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra said: “Our new headquarters will provide collaboration areas for our teams, executive offices and display space for our vehicles.”

The automaker has signed an initial 15 year multi level lease for top office floors plus space to show its vehicles at street level.
