
Scania has launched an “autonomous commercial pilot programme” which will integrate US-based Plus technology into Scania and Traton Group vehicles.
The trial aims to demonstrate hub to hub technology in actual customer operations.
The new technology is especially adaptable to operators’ specific routes and ‘transport profiles’, the truck maker said.
“Fully integrated autonomous solutions means technology fitted and supported directly from the factory and a system that is designed to be operated by our customers in their existing infrastructure and operational flows,” said Peter Hafmar, head of autonomous.
Scania expects improved operating efficiency, lower emissions and improves road safety while also addressing a growing global driver shortage.
The company has been testing autonomous transport on Swedish roads since 2021 and plans to expand pilot operations with customers in other European countries this year.
