Toyota Motor will try to boost its annual global sales of hybrid petrol-electric cars to a million units by the early 2010s from 130,000 units in 2004, company president Fujio Cho reportedly said on Tuesday.

According to Kyodo News, Cho announced the sales target when launching two new hybrid vehicles at a news conference in Tokyo.


The news agency noted that Toyota plans to produce hybrid vehicles in the United States and China, as well as in Japan.


On hybrid car production in the United States, Cho reportedly said the company plans to select a location and a model by late June.
