Recaro Automotive North America has announced acquisition of the assets and technology of C12 Technology, a South Carolina company.

C12 Technology specialises in advanced material component development and production using compression moulding, RTM, autoclave, and rotomoulding processes, inclusive of carbon fibre rotational moulding for complex structures.

Recaro develops and makes premium vehicle seats for automotive OEM’s, motorsport, aftermarket and commercial vehicles in North America, Europe and Asia.

“OEM’s want innovative partners to support and service their product lines from design concept to production. By incorporating these advanced composite material capabilities from raw material development through final component production, Recaro Automotive continues to strengthen its brand in the premium performance seat market,” the company said in a statement.

“In our effort to increase support for our customers from concept to manufacturing, it made sense to vertically integrate the proprietary engineering, development, and manufacturing of composites,” said Emil Kreycik, President and COO.

C12 Technology’s Oliver Wainwright and Reid McFarlin join Recaro as VP of global advanced manufacturing & development and director of advanced technology, respectively.
