Volvo Cars has signed a multi year agreement with StoreDot has which will develop batteries with its proprietary extreme fast charging (XFC) cells.

First samples are expected to be ready for testing in 2024.

StoreDot claimed its XFC battery would enable 100 miles (160km) of range after a five minute charge.

Mass production of its ‘100in5’ technology was expected in 2025.

The company outlined a ‘100inX’ product plan which would eventually deliver ‘Range on Demand’ – 100 miles charged in five minutes in 2024, 100 miles in three minutes by 2028, and 100 miles in two minutes by 2032.
