Continental has announced plans to integrate Google Cloud’s generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its vehicle cockpit systems to create a dialogue system.

Google Cloud’s AI-powered system compiles detailed information in real time and Continental enables access to specific vehicle information, such as the operating manual, to provide user’s answers to a range of questions, from tyre pressure to local places of interest.

Google’s technology would also allow the system to constantly learn, create added content and adapt to the user’s preferences.

“Based on our Smart Cockpit High-Performance Computer, we expect our solution to be ready for production within just 18 months development time,” said Philipp von Hirschheydt, Continental’s automotive group head.

The supplier said it would display the integration of the system in its Smart Cockpit High-Performance Computer (HPC) technology with a demonstration vehicle at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, Germany.

Several automakers use Google technology through an Automotive Services (GAS) package which provides access to a range of applications such as Assistant, Maps and Play.
