Japan’s second largest automaker, Nissan, unveiled organisational changes reflecting its desire to create a more streamlined corporate structure and to trim costs.

It said it would create a module-development department, encouraging teamwork between departments, including engineering and design.

Nissan also said its motor-sports-planning-and-development operations would be integrated into its engine and drive-train engineering divisions.

The I.T. departments, currently divided into business system and engineering units, will be amalgamated and will come under Nissan’s Chief Information Officer, Shozo Kurihara`s jurisdiction. And the company’s Nissan Marine Sales Co. is set to be renamed the Nissan Marine Co., absorbing all of Nissan’s marine-related operations on July 1st. Fifty workers are to be employed within this new company.
