"Canadians expect more
value for their money. Whether they are buying a compact commuter car or a high-performance
luxury sedan, Canadians demand features like innovative styling, a solid ride,
an attractive interior and superior dependability," said Robert Girard,
Vice President, General Sales, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited.

"We think both Ford
Focus and Lincoln LS have been recognized by the readers and editors of Carguide
and the Globe and Mail as ‘Best Buys’ because they deliver on these core values,"
Girard added.

A sluggish pick up truck
segment industry-wide, slowed the company’s overall truck sales to 13,668 units,
a 10.2 per cent drop from last September. However, sales of Ford sport utility
vehicles remained strong with Explorer weighing in with a 9.8 per cent increase
over the same month last year and Excursion marking a 11.4 per cent sales increase
compared to the previous September.

Near Decade High in Year-to-date

per cent over 1999 and the second-best year-to-date sales result in a decade,
(only surpassed by the 232,547 units sold by the end of September 1997). Car
year-to-date sales equal 77,298, a 16.4% increase compared to the same period
last year and trucks year-to-date sales are 143,817 units, a slight 3.2 per
cent decrease from last year’s record pace.
