Reuters reported that a union source said that Fiat Auto workers across Italy are due to strike for four hours on Nov. 5, the first nationwide stoppage to hit the loss-making group since April.


Fiat Auto is the latest European vehicle manufacturer to encounter labour union opposition as it struggles to cut costs and increase margins in the cutthroat European marketplace. Both GM and Volkswagen are reportedly planning large headcount reductions at European operations.
