One month after updating its Brazilian-made Gol, Volkswagen do Brasil has changed the Parati station wagon and Saveiro compact pick-up derivatives, calling them, like the latest Gol, “fourth generation” or “G4” when they are really only face-lifted versions of third generation models launched in 1999 (Parati) and 2000 (Saveiro).

Both Parati and Saveiro G4 have new headlamps, bumpers, grille and bonnet but, at the rear, only the lights and bumper have been restyled.

The most significant updates are inside. The models have a new dashboard, based on a similar design used in the Brazilian-made Fox, now being exported to Europe.

Mechanicals are unchanged: 1.6- and 1.8-litre eight-valve flex-fuel engines.

In the second half of 2006 Volkswagen will start exporting the updated models to 23 countries such as Argentina, Mexico and Egypt. The Saveiro is shipped to 21 countries including Taiwan, Argentina and Syria.
