Fiat, which once accounted for about two thirds of Italian sales, saw its market share plummet as foreign competitors moved in and a sales slump dragged it into crisis in 2001-02, the report said.


It hopes new models like the revamped Fiat Punto, which went on sale in September, will boost sales and return the group to a market share of more than 30% in Italy, Reuters noted.
