Vehicle production this week in the US, Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 249,186 units, down 20.3% from the 312,532 cars and trucks built last week, according to WardsAuto.com.

Including this week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 14,994,597 vehicles, up 0.7% from like-2004’s pace.

In the US, automakers are expected to produce 147,234 vehicles this week, down 30.7% from the 212,562 cars and trucks built last week. To date, calendar 2005 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 11,006,836 units, up 0.1% compared to the 10,991,733 vehicles built in like-2004.

Production is down due to Thanksgiving on Thursday, a national holiday in the US.

This week’s Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 61,689, an increase of 6.2% from the 58,092 units assembled last week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,454,034 units, down 1.3% compared to the 2,486,185 vehicles produced in like-2004.

Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 24.8%; Ford Motor Co., 25.6%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 13.9%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 8.0%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.0%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.9%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.3%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.0%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.1%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.0%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.9%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.9%; and other manufacturers, 4.6%.
