The Chrysler group says it has held the line on prices of long-wheelbase models of its new generation of minivans.

Prices are up on many models, though, due to the company adding new features. The company said that “adjusted for additional content, 2001 pricing remains the same as the 2000 models they replace.”

Pricing involved the long-wheelbase Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country. Two of the four Grand Caravans are priced below the corresponding 2000 models. The other two are up $1,425 and $1,475.

One Town & Country, the base LX, is $90 less than the 2000 entry. The other five are up $95 to $1,160.

Much of the “additional content” is available for the first time; it is not a case of 2000 options being made standard. Among the new items are a power liftgate, split 50/50 roller seats, three-zone automatic temperature controls, adjustable pedals and an obstacle-detection system for opening and closing doors.
