The Japanese commercial vehicle maker Hino and Swedish heavy-duty truck maker, Scania, are involved in talks over possible collaboration. Hino admitted that talks are taking place following Japanese press reports.

A deal would allow the two firms to share the high and rising costs of developing environmentally friendly powertrain technology and fill out their respective product line-ups. Hino could supply medium-duty trucks and engines to Scania, the latter providing Hino with heavy-duty product.
