Skoda has scored a hat-trick of awards including the Supreme Honour, Auto Express Car of the Year for the new Fabia at the Auto Express New Car Honours held in London on 21 June 2000.
The Fabia, which saw off hot competition from the Peugeot 206 and the Volkswagen Polo, was awarded the Honour for Best Supermini, before it was finally chosen from eighteen categories of Honours winners to take the prestigious Car of the Year title. The Fabia adds the Auto Express titles to its growing list of international accolades including What Car? Car of the Year 2000.

Talking about its Car of the Year, Auto Express said, “The impact the Czech hatchback made on the fiercely contested supermini market was almost unprecedented.
