Tesla halted operations at its Shanghai assembly plant for four days in August due to parts shortages, according to local reports citing unnamed sources close to the company.
The US electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer was said to be struggling with shortages of semiconductors which affected mainly production of the Model Y crossover model last month.

The source confirmed production had returned to normal following the disruption.
Tesla was reported to have shipped almost 33,000 vehicles from its Shanghai plant in July, for sale both in China and abroad.
Sales in China amounted to just 8,621 units according to the China Passenger Car Association, down from 28,138 units in June.
The company had previously halted some production at an assembly plant in the US for two weeks in February due to logistical problems.

Last month Toyota Motor announced it planned to cut global vehicle production by up to 40% in September due to the component shortage, while India’s largest carmaker also said it planned to cut production by 40% this month from normal levels. Extensive stoppages have also been reported by leading global automakers such as Ford, GM, Hyundai and Volkswagen.
Malaysia has emerged as a major bottleneck in the global semiconductor supply chain, after the government imposed strict lockdowns at the beginning of June to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
