TI Automotive has been awarded a contract to provide complete fuel tank systems for two Nissan vehicles, the Xterra SUV and the Frontier pickup, starting in the 2005 model year.

The systems will include fuel tanks, pumps and modules that incorporate the company’s Bundy and Walbro technologies.

Production is scheduled to begin in 2004 at several locations. Pumps will be made in Japan, modules in Mexico and tanks in Ossian, Indiana. The vehicles will be built in Smyrna, Tennessee.

This is the first North American business Nissan has awarded to
TI Automotive’s fuel storage and delivery systems (FSDS) business unit.

Last year, Nissan selected TI for brake and fuel lines on the 2004 model Quest minivan, a full size pickup and an SUV. It will also supply brake lines for the 2004-model Maxima sedan.
