Volkswagen do Brasil boosted 2001 revenue 27.5 percent to $R10.2 billion ($US4.3 billion) from $R8 billion in 2000, writes Rogerio Louro Alves.

Volkswagen produced 542,000 vehicles in 2001 and exported 120,000 units.

Export sales contributed $R3 billion in revenue last year, 50 percent more than in 2000.

However, VW Brazil did not disclose whether or not 2001 was profitable.
