Hyundai Motor India Ltd. will start selling the gas oil (diesel) version of the ‘Accent’ sedan by the end of the month, the company’s Director (marketing and sales) B.V.R. Subbu said Tuesday (25/07/00). Hyundai is aiming to sell 200 units of the car every month, Subbu said.
It is reported that the first car will be launched in Southern markets, and would be available to the rest of India by the end of August
A 1.5-liter Peugeot’s TUD-5 diesel engine powers the Accent, which is also available in a 1.6-liter petrol version.
Hyundai India–a fully owned subsidiary of South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Corp.–had launched the car late last month. The company makes the Santro small car and the Accent car in India.
