Xiaomi Automobile Company, the battery electric vehicle (BEV) subsidiary of Chinese smartphone maker Beijing Xiaomi Technology Company, has raised its full year sales target from 350,000 to 400,000 units, as the company stepped up output of its SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV models.

The revised target would represent a threefold increase over the 135,000 vehicles it delivered last year, making it one of the fastest-growing automakers in China. Xiaomi celebrated the production of its 500,000th BEV this week, having launched vehicle production at its plant in Beijing as recently as December 2023.

Despite this rapid growth, the company was quick to point out that quality and safety remain its top priorities, saying “we firmly believe that safety is a foundation and a priority. Based on safety and quality, we are making an all-out effort to accelerate production.”

The company is seen as one of the main challengers to Tesla in China, along with other BEV startups such as Leapmotor and Li Auto. It recently opened an R&D centre in Germany, ahead of plans to establish a sales network across the region.

Xiaomi revealed last week that its BEV operations generated a profit of CNY 700 million (US$ 98 million) in the third quarter of 2025, compared with a CNY 300 million loss in the previous quarter, with sales surging by 175% year-on-year to 108,796 cars in this period. In the first ten months of 2025, the company delivered 315,376 BEVs in China.
