Luke Martin September 29 2023

Volvo Cars has signed a multi year agreement with StoreDot has which will develop batteries with its proprietary extreme fast charging (XFC) cells.

First samples are expected to be ready for testing in 2024.

StoreDot claimed its XFC battery would enable 100 miles (160km) of range after a five minute charge.

Mass production of its '100in5' technology was expected in 2025.

The company outlined a ‘100inX’ product plan which would eventually deliver ‘Range on Demand’ - 100 miles charged in five minutes in 2024, 100 miles in three minutes by 2028, and 100 miles in two minutes by 2032.

Metaverse has the potential to disrupt all stages of the automotive value chain

Although the impact of the metaverse on the automotive industry is minor so far, this technology promises to make digital media experiences more immersive, inclusive, and accessible than today. Its impacts will be particularly felt by OEMs and sales and marketing. As the light vehicle market becomes increasingly saturated, investment will be redirected towards improving in-car media and safety features, leading to an increasingly connected vehicle network.
