UK demand for new light commercial vehicles (LCVs) grew by 8.4% to 23,962 vehicles in January 2024, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
This was the 13th consecutive month of growth and the highest January total since 2021.
Growth was strongest for medium sized vans, up 60.9% to 5,040 units and accounting for 21% of the market.
The largest vans remained most popular though registrations fell 4.5% to 14,839 units for a 61.9% share.
Pickup and 4x4 uptake also increased, up 18.2% and 62.4% to 3,002 and 729 vehicles respectively while registrations of the smallest vans dropped by 19.8% to just 352 units.
Demand for BEV models rose 19.4% to 1,186 units in January.
